ATTRACTIONS AND AMENITIES:
This peaceful haven offers many opportunities for visitors. Located
nearby are numerous sites of historical and cultural importance
including the 5th century Romanesque doorway at Killeshin, reputed
to be one of the finest in the country. The Browne's Hill Dolmen,
an impressive communal burial chamber dating back 3300 to 2900 B.C.
is the largest of its kind in Europe and is located just 10 miles
from Ballickmoyler. The "Dancing Boards" at nearby Rossmore attract
huge crowds to partake in, or just watch and listen to, the traditional
music and dancing on every Sunday throughout the Summer season.
Carlow town offers a superb variety of restaurants and pubs, many
of which have live entertainment in the evenings. Discover the secrets
of the Slieve Bloom Way which offers glorious panoramas and is one
of Ireland's most attractive way marked walking trails. The Slieve
Bloom range is a designated Environmental Park, offering a wilderness
of unspoilt beauty. There is good fishing in the River Barrow and
excellent golf courses in nearby Carlow, Tullow and Athy. Horse
riding is available locally and caters for every age and rider.
