AMENITIES
AND ATTRACTIONS:
For those who enjoy a game of golf Laburnum Lodge overlooks the
Mount Wolseley Hilton Golf Course. This 18 hole championship golf
course was designed by Christy O’ Connor Jnr., providing golfers
with an exciting and challenging game. The immediate area is also
well served by championship courses including Carlow, Killerig,
Kilkea, Rathsallagh and Mount Juliet.
Located
closeby in an excellent state of preservation is the hill fortification
of Rathgall which dates from the 8th century. Evidence suggests
that this hill fort was constructed from the Late Bronze Age into
the Iron Age and continued to be used into post-medieval times.
Immediately
beside Rathgall is Rathwood Home, Gift & Garden World, guaranteed
to provide an enjoyable day’s shopping. Set in over a hectare of
attractive gardens Rathwood offers 10,000 square feet of indoor
shopping and restaurant facilities which includes a large selection
of Irish pottery, household items and crafts. One of Irelands
very special places, Altamont House & Gardens are located close
by. The extensive gardens are a delight to visit with formal and
wild features and are widely regarded as one of the most beautiful
and relaxing in the country.
The River Slaney which flows through Tullow, the main town in north
County Carlow offers coarse and game angling with excellent catches
of bream, pike, rudd, salmon and brown trout.
And of course Laburnum Lodge can be used as a central base for touring
the many visitor attractions in the surrounding counties of Dublin,
Wicklow and Wexford.
