Carraig Abhainn offers self-catering accommodation for the summer period. Each apartment comprises of a fully fitted kitchen/living room with three bedrooms catering for 3, 4 or 5 people. The apartments are all self contained each with its own front door. Located adjacent to the Kilkenny Road it is 80 km from Dublin and a 5 minute walk from Carlow Town Centre. It is an ideal base from which to enjoy a break in Carlow and to explore the historic and scenic towns and villages in the area.

TYPE A:

Each of the 19 x 3 bed upstairs apartments (type A) has an open plan kitchen/living room with cable TV, a double bedroom, single bedroom and twin bedroom en suite and there is also a bathroom.

TYPE B:

Sixteen of our ground floor apartments (type B) have 2 single bedrooms and a twin bedroom ensuite, an open plan kitchen/living room and a bathroom.

 

TYPE C:

A further 3 ground floor (type C) apartments are fitted for mobility impaired guests with an en-suite bathroom fitted to cater for a disabled person, 2 single bedrooms, 1 twin bedroom, kitchen/living room and a bathroom. Please enquire for rates.

Linen and towels are included. Weekly booking can be from any start date and we also have weekend and midweek breaks.

AMENITIES AND ATTRACTIONS

Carlow town, the county capital and gateway to the South-East stands at the confluence of the Barrow and Burrin rivers. Tradition has it that the junction of the two rivers once covered such a large area of ground that a lake was formed, or, as some believe four lakes, hence the name Ceatharloch or City of the Four Lakes. A strategic river crossing round which wars were raged and victories celebrated, the Anglo Normans signalled its importance by building the great Carlow Castle in the 13th century.

A bustling market town Carlow enjoys a thriving arts and crafts community, an exciting nightlife, a strong tradition of Irish language and culture and a superb range of shops, boutiques and restaurants.

Carlow Town Park - a 12.8 acre park on the banks of the River Barrow offering a host of amenities for all the family.
Browneshill Dolmen - Europe's largest portal dolmen 3km from the town on the R726, with a capstone weighing 101 tonnes.

Directions to Carraig Abhainn


Carlow is located on the main Dublin to Waterford N9 route. It is approximately 2 hours drive from Dublin and one and a half hours from Waterford city. Carraig Abhainn is located on the Kilkenny road. Heading towards Kilkenny from Carlow town the Institute of Technology is on your left. Take the first turn left directly after the Institute of Technology and Carraig Abhainn is the second entrance on the right hand side directly opposite the gate of the Institute of Technology. The office of Able Property Management is located in the second block of apartments on the right as you enter Carraig Abhainn
