ARTS AND THEATRE – VISUAL CENTRE FOR CONTEMPORARY ART AND THE GEORGE BERNARD SHAW THEATRE 
A dynamic multi-disciplinary arts facility presenting the best of local, national and international work in the visual and performing arts.  The centre has won numerous awards including the RIAI (Royal Institute of Architects ofIreland) Award 2010 forBestCulturalBuildinginIreland. VISUAL boasts four principal exhibition spaces, and the Main Gallery is recognised as Ireland’s largest and most spectacular space for presenting contemporary art. Since the opening in September 2009 the visual arts programme has included leading Irish and International artists. Some of the best known artists have included Sean Scully, a painter of world renown, showing his Works for the 1980’s, Joseph Albers with A Touring Exhibition for the Hayward Gallery,London and Michael Warren.

The Geroge Bernard Shaw Theatre, named after he renowned Irish playwright who has strong Carlow connections, is a 290 seat high-spec performance space.
